By Straight Talk

Mi nearly bawl wen mi a read di news article from di Gleaner bout the teacha from St. Richard's Primary weh di dawg dem attack. If yuh nuh read it yet si di link ere:
http://jamaica-gleaner.com/article/news/20190921/teacher-mauled-dogs-hoursresidents-claim-police-were-slow-respond/
No man! Yuh mean fi tell mi seh nubaddy cudnt give di dawg dem some rass lick! Di article seh one man afta hearing di woman crying for help for some time decide fi guh outside and look wah gwaan. Wen 'im guh out deh 'im si di woman on di groun being attacked by those monsters. Him tell har fi lie still becauz di more shi struggle gainst di dawg dem, di more dem bite har up.  Lawd Jeezas, I don't know why all of a sudden ppl love di big breed, ferocious dawg dem!

Okay, dem seh dem need pitbulls fi protection (it was pitbull dogs that attacked her), okay fine get di dawg, but why unnu nuh keep dem lock up inna unnu yawd?!

Di news article seh shi juss move to di community of Cooper Hill, St. Andrew. Shi a try mek a betta life fi harself. She was taking her usual walk in the community and di dawg dem juss pounce and maul har!

How come dem dawg deh deh pon road?! Why dem neva lock up? Eeh?! Why?!

Dem seh due to di attack the young lady lost an ear, clean bitten off by these dogs. Is wat? Dem nuh feed dem? And den have dem unleash pon unsuspecting citizens.

There ought to be a law against the keeping of these animals. Rottweilers, pitbulls, terriers and all these aggressive dogs should be banned.

She is now under going treatment at hospital which includes surgery, yes folks, it's that bad. The owner or owners (it was more than one dog...who knows) should be arrested and heavily fined and the dogs put down. Weh mi seh shoot dem!  They got a taste of human blood. If this was their first attack dem a guh do it again, you watch. We might hear of another attack in that community pretty soon,  if those animals aren't restrained.

What is alarming though, is the attitude of the people around. Reports are that the residents, her neighbors, heard this woman bawling for help for hours and is only one man venture outside to look? Only one smaddy? Shame on these people. They are blaming the police for taking too long to arrive at the scene saying it took the police four (4) hours to get there. The police claimed they were on another location nearby dealing with another incident.

But weh mi a seh still, besides the man who they say ran to the police station to ask for help, mi a seh wah happen to di other people dem? Dem cudnt fling some stone afta di dawg dem?

Seriously?!

A uptown dat, nuh license firearm holder neva nearby fi fire a shot an' scare dem weh or kill one a di brute suh dem cud stop attack di lady?

Di Gleaner seh when the police finally got there the darn dogs were still mailing the lady, and nobody did anything. Di dogs even tried to attack the police but a quick shot in the air scared dem off.

The article said they, the dogs were licking her blood and even when she lay still pretending to be unconscious, these monsters still tore into her flesh!

That's why mi nuh truss none a dem dawg deh. No sah! A neighbour had one an' mi a tell yuh once dem fixated on someting and dem jaw deh clamp dung pon dat, a hell fi open dem mouth. Di yute kick Di dawg, box it, duh everyting bredda dawg deh him nah leggo, and it was a pitbull too.  Fortunately it wasn't a person's limb just a bag. But wen mi si dat mi seh 'Hell no! Nuh wah dem dawg deh roun' mi!'

Wishing speedy recovery to the teacher an' hope dem find those dogs and put dem down.  And to the people of Coopers Hill, it's good you called the cops but y'all shudda done more.

Mi gone people, until next time this was a Taak-e-chute article. Walk good.

Leaf of Life: The beneficial herb plant you never knew you needed ... until now.

Yuh have a fever? Headache? Sinus problem? I remember being given this as a child when I had these ailments. The beautiful evergreen leaf of life was an effective fever reducer for many Jamaican kids growing up in the 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s. Now when you have the flu they load you up with pills. But here is an alternative that is just as effective without the side effects of modern medicine. We call it 'leaf of life' but it's known by other names. Native to Madagascar, it's also called 'miracle leaf', 'life plant', 'Goethe plant', the 'Mexican love plant', but scientists call it Bryophyllum pinnatum. How it reach yah, mi nuh know, but the plant can usually be found in any local Jamaican garden, sometimes not even planted there, but it is a resilient plant that only needs a little water for it to take root and spring up. It can also be stored as a potted plant. Suh weh it good fah? Respiratory Problems be gone The 'leaf of life...

Guinea Hen Weed: The mysterious, powerful healing herb.

By S. Jeffery What are these plants? Yuh know the name? A few years ago (maybe 5 or 6 years) after one heavy shower of rain, my family and I noticed these plants growing in our back yard. We had no clue what they were, we thought they were some exotic weed. As I said, it just started growing in the backyard after some heavy June/July showers caused by a passing hurricane.
